Kasey mentioned to me before the start of her and Ernie's shoot that both she and her fiance were a little nervous. Truth be told, I was a little nervous too. This session was the first time I photographed an engaged couple. They trusted me based on my photos of families and babies to capture their love with my camera. That right there is faith, so I put so much thought into this shoot before we met. I told Kasey not to worry. I would make this whole session relaxed and fun, and the best thing she and Ernie could do was be themselves and try to forget that there was this crazy lady with a camera following them.
I love this session so much, and it's not because I think I created magic with my camera. It's because these two, whom have known each other since high school, did exactly what I asked them to, and for the most part forgot that I was there. I watched them be silly and nervous and loving toward one another. I was in awe of how at ease they made one another. As a result, Kasey and Ernie, despite what they might tell you, are naturals in front of a camera.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, they brought along their adorable dog Lilly as well. You know I love photographing dogs and the people who love them.
I have already told Kasey she needs a huge print of the photo below somewhere in her house. This is easily one of my top 10 favorite images I have created this year.
Boom! Right? I am obsessed.
They did a quick outfit change and then we were back at it for round two, which was just as good as round one.
This next image, is also one of my favorites of 2013. I posted it on my Facebook page and will never tell you how many times I looked at it and smiled. (It was too many to count.)
I totally relate to the photo above. My husband and I look at our dog like that all of the time.
Kasey and Ernie, I have no doubt you have a lifetime full of happiness ahead of you. I had so much fun getting to know the both of you and your sweet pup. And I am so jealous of your wedding photographer because capturing the love between you two is a blast. Thank you again so much for reaching out and asking me to take your engagement photos. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
